Aloka Community Incorporated
Towards a sustainable and peaceful society
The interdependent nature of existence means the way we live has
beneficial or harmful consequences for other beings. The
transformation of society for the better starts with a spiritual
lifestyle that is both socially and environmentally aware.
Spiritual communities can more effectively create a sustainable
and peaceful society.
Aloka Community Incorporated (Inc.) was set up in April 2007 to
complement the activities of Aloka Meditation Centre at Peats
Ridge on the NSW Central Coast and reach out to the broader
community in Australia and abroad, irrespective of age, gender,
culture or social status.
Since the establishment of the Aloka Meditation Centre in 1999,
many Dhamma practitioners have benefited from the guidance of
Aloka Spiritual Director, Venerable Mahinda, who, together with
Sister Sumitra, has been teaching in Australia for more than 20
years.
The Aloka Community is the latest extension of their work for
the welfare and happiness of all

The symbol, at the centre of this drawing,
represents the Centre of Energy, a meeting place and sacred
site. The four circles also represent the 4 Noble Truths.
Within this sacred site is the Dhamma Wheel,
the driving force for the community. This represents the laws of
nature, our ever changing environment and the Eightfold path.
Men and women surround the site forming a
community of young and old with one person in each of the
directions. Indigenous symbols honour the
traditional owners of this land and represent reconciliation.
This community dwells upon a white disc, representing
Mother Earth.
Surrounding the Earth is a symbol for Spirit,
the Universe and all the realms beyond this world. It
acknowledges the beings who are guiding us and protecting us on
our path.
The lotus surrounding the universe is a symbol
of purity and wisdom, which lies
within all of us.
The golden disc,
upon which all resides, represents illumination and
enlightenment, possible for all. |
